GOLF

The first known document golf team at Port Huron High School was in 1930. Brick Fowler was the coach and the team consisted of six players. There was a golf team from 1936-1942, and although Meyers wasn’t listed as the coach every year he was listed in some of the years so it would stand to reason he was most likely the coach during this period.

During World War II some of the minor sports like golf took a break. During the years of 1943-1944 there was no documented golf team. Golf resumed in 1945 but no record of the coach. Port Huron High School has had a boy’s golf team since.

Port Huron is fortunate in being able to have two golf clubs that helped them. The golf teams played at Black river Country Club and also Port Huron Golf Club. Port Huron has entertained three State Golf Tournaments in 1950, ’54 and ’56.
